Saint John True Growth Innovation Fund


The Saint John True Growth Innovation Fund is designed to help the aspiring innovator/entrepreneur evaluate their idea/innovation for commercialization. The funding is available to help support the new venture through market validation, market research, business plan development and to help leverage additional funding.

Funding for the Saint John True Growth Innovation Fund has been provided through community donors who would like to encourage the launch of more products, services and methodologies in their community.

The goal is to accelerate the commercialization of high impact ideas by helping to remove common obstacles in the early stages of venture evaluation.

Areas of Focus:

Innovation in Saint John’s priority growth sectors (Energy, Advanced Manufacturing, Finance/Insurance and Professional Services, Tourism, IT, and Health & Life Sciences), plus Arts & Culture, and Municipal Government.


We encourage individuals, organizations, faculty and students in the community at large to apply.  Partnerships and collaborations are encouraged.  Successful applicants are those whose ideas/innovations have the potential for big impact, sustainability and scalability.

Application and Selection Process:

Stage 1 –Proposal submission

Deadline for submission July 31, 2014.
Applicants who have made it to this stage will be contacted by email to pitch their innovation proposal to a selection panel.

Stage 2– Full proposal submission

Successful applicants approved by the selection committee will be emailed a request for:

Complete budget
Proposed  key milestones and deliverables

Stage 3-Final Meeting & Terms of Contract

Applicants will be invited to a meeting to discuss the purpose of the funding, key deliverables, installment schedule, and upon agreement, the successful applicant will be sent a formal letter of award and a Terms & Conditions contract for signature.
