Joan Kingston & Community Health Clinic Grand Prize Winner, Social Enterprise Pitch Competition

Joan Kingston,representing the Community Health Clinic, won the grand prize of $2500 in the Social Enterprise Pitch Competition on March 22, 2013 during the Social Enterprise Development Dialog. The Community Health Clinic is run by Nurse Practitioners and provides valuable training for student nurses.  At The Clinic, nurses work together to provide easy access to health care care for vulnerable populations including the homeless, refugees and those without access to primary health care.

Other winners included Chelsea Wilson with MindfulVibes; Matt Johnson with the Fredericton Community Bicycle Organization; Melissa MacMaster of CEDD, NS, with creation of digital books by youth at risk; David Brown with Mycodev, a biotech startup focused on microbial innovations.

Congratulations to all the winners and especially to those who benefit from the ventures developed by these social enterprise innovators.
